Effects of Secondary Transmittance on Social Change

Jul 2012 – Apr 2013

Backline is a comprehensive pregnancy options talkline in Portland, Oregon with volunteer advocates who answer calls. The advocates were the ones being interviews. Currently, I am working on coding and analyzing in- depth qualitative interviews that were conducted over the summer of 2012. Upon completion, a manuscript will be drafted describing the effects of personal narrative from women calling Backline to others around them and in turn, how this affects the community at large (secondary transmittance). This project is under the supervision of Dr. Angel Foster.

Need for Pregnancy Options Counselling

Jun 2012 – Apr 2013

A quantitative paper about the need for pregnancy related options counselling for women as demonstrated by the Backline community. Backline is a comprehensive pregnancy options talkline stationed in Portland, Oregon. The statistics were collected using an online survey tool and inputted by Backline’s advocates. After each call was received, advocates would fill out the survey and answer both closed and open-ended questions. The statistics were analyzed and a manuscript is being drafted targeting publication in Women’s Health Issues Journal.  This project is under the supervision of Dr. Angel Foster.
